EMDR therapy

EMDR therapy heals deeply held trauma. It reduces or eliminates the power trauma has over you, and allows you to move forward unencumbered by the past.
how it starts

Assessment

We start by identifying your goals for therapy and assessing your mental health. If EMDR is indicated, we  identify past experiences that negatively affect your view of yourself and develop coping skills for difficult days.
what's next?

Desensitization

Using EMDR, we work through the physical responses (ie tension, overwhelm) to traumatic memories until they are eliminated. I will carefully guide you through this in order to manage the intensity of the negative sensations. Most clients are surprised by the reduction in power of these bad experiences.
The next step

Reprocessing

Next, we build up positive associations to those negative memories. This might seem impossible right now, but during EMDR that changes. Using EMDR, negative memories are connected with positive beliefs like "I'm strong," "I'm worthy," or "I did the best I could."
